State-approved 40-hour course preparing you to work as an unarmed security officer in Florida. Covers Florida statutes, legal authority, use of force, ethics, de-escalation, observation techniques, report writing, patrol procedures, emergency preparedness, and terrorism awareness. Upon completion you will be prepared to apply for your Florida Class D license through the Division of Licensing.
Can't make it in person? No problem. This is the same state-approved 40-hour Class D Unarmed Security Officer course delivered via live online instruction. You will participate in real-time with a live instructor, ask questions, and complete all required coursework from anywhere in Florida. Upon completion you will be prepared to apply for your Florida Class D license through the Division of Licensing. A stable internet connection and webcam are required.

Note: Range Qualification: To obtain your Class G license, students are required to complete 8 hours of range work and a qualification course of fire with a certified Class K license instructor. Arranging range qualification is the student's responsibility. Blue Star Security & Training can provide referrals upon request.

Get hands-on from the very first minute. Our Basic Pistol Course is conducted entirely on the range — no classroom, no sitting around. You'll learn firearm safety, fundamentals, and marksmanship through real trigger time with direct instruction from a military and law enforcement certified instructor. This course is perfect for first-time shooters and anyone looking to build a solid foundation with a handgun in a safe, supportive environment. What You'll Cover: • Firearm safety rules — practiced on the range, not just talked about • Pistol nomenclature and operation • Proper grip, stance, and body mechanics • Sight alignment and sight picture • Trigger control and follow through • Loading, unloading, and malfunction clearing • Basic marksmanship and live fire drills Class Details: • Duration: 4 hours (all range time) • Location: Gateway Pistol and Rifle Club (private range) • Cost: $150 per student • Range fee: Paid separately to the range facility • Firearm and ammunition available at additional cost • No experience necessary — beginners welcome
Florida law requires all Class G licensed armed security officers to complete a 4-hour annual re-qualification course to maintain their Statewide Firearms License. This course covers the required curriculum and live-fire qualification per FDACS standards.
Important: Range fee is paid directly to the range on the day of training and is not included in the course fee. Students must bring their duty firearm and sufficient ammunition for the qualification course of fire.

Earn your Florida Concealed Weapon & Firearm License (CWFL) with hands-on, range-based instruction from an experienced military and law enforcement certified instructor. Our entire 4-hour program is conducted on the range — giving you real trigger time and genuine confidence before you carry. This course meets all Florida FDACS requirements for CWFL certification.
