Class D — Unarmed Security Officer License (40 Hours)

This state-approved 40-hour course prepares you to work as an unarmed security officer in Florida. You'll learn everything required by the state — and then some. Our training goes beyond the minimum because your job demands more than minimum preparation.

Topics covered include but are not limited to:

• Florida Statutes Chapter 493 — Private Security Regulations

• Licensing requirements, application process, and renewal procedures

• Legal authority and limitations of security officers

• Use of force — legal guidelines and limitations

• Ethics, professionalism, and code of conduct

• Observation techniques and situational awareness

• Report writing and incident documentation

• Patrol procedures and premises security

• Communication and de-escalation techniques

• Emergency preparedness and response procedures

• Terrorism awareness and indicators

• Physical security measures and vulnerability assessment

Upon completion, you'll be prepared to apply for your Florida Class D license through the Division of Licensing.

Class G — Armed Security Officer License (28 Hours)

This 28-hour course is designed for individuals who already hold a valid Florida Class D license and want to carry a firearm on duty. Our firearms training is taught by a Firearms Instructor with over 30 years of real-world experience — not just classroom theory.

• Florida firearms laws for security officers

• Legal use of force and deadly force

• Firearm safety rules and range protocols

• Handgun fundamentals — grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control

• Loading, unloading, and malfunction clearing

• Ammunition types and selection

Topics covered include but are not limited to:

• Holster draw and re-holster techniques

• Marksmanship and live-fire qualification

• Situational awareness and threat assessment

• Decision-making under stress

• Firearm storage, maintenance, and cleaning

• Use of force reporting and documentation

Upon completion and successful qualification on the range, you'll be prepared to apply for your Florida Class G license through the Division of Licensing.
